 Auditions will be Monday, February 8th, 2010 at 6:00 pm in Kresge Auditorium. Performance order will be determined by the Music Office. Students selected to perform at the 2010 Commencement Concert will be announced approximately one hour following the conclusion of the auditions.

Kresge Auditorium

1. The performance length (duration of the music) will be 50 minutes.

2. Entries will be a minimum of six minutes duration. Any exceptions to this time limit must be approved by the music faculty.

3. The student must be currently studying privately with an instructor through the Department of Music.

4. Judging will be done by the entire music faculty

5. Well in advance of the auditions and early in the learning process, the instructor should seek the orchestra conductor’s approval for each entry. The conductor may veto selections due to unavailability of orchestration, difficulty of orchestration, or unavailability of the proper key.

6. All audition entries must be memorized.

7. Students may audition using duet and ensemble literature.

8. The nature of some works, either the orchestration or the solo part, may indicate a departure from the memorization policy. The final decision will be made by the orchestra conductor after consultation with the student and his/her instructor.

Students selected to perform at the 2010 Commencement Concert will be announced approximately one hour following the conclusion of the auditions.
