DESCRIPTION STANDARDS INTERVIEW QUESTIONS RESULTS ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS |
Admission to Upper Division Status is granted by the Music Faculty. The process includes a performance evaluation and oral interview in which the candidate’s applied and academic study is reviewed, and the candidate has the opportunity to speak directly with the Music Faculty. The process usually occurs at the end of the fourth semester of study as a Music Major. The candidate will give a performance on their major applied instrument before the full Music faculty. The candidate will give a performance on their major applied instrument before the full Music faculty. Repertoire will be approved by the applied instructor, and will be listed in program order on the Upper Division form. An interview with the full Music Faculty will provide the candidates the opportunity to present themselves in a professional manner, and to demonstrate communication skills appropriate for their area of concentration. This interview also helps the Music faculty assess a candidate’s strengths and weaknesses, and helps advisors and classroom professors to deal more specifically with a student’s particular needs.
If Upper Division Status is granted, the student may register for upper division credit.
