Dr. Timothy Nelson , D.Mus.
Dr. Timothy Nelson, Professor of Music is a full-time faculty member in the Department of Music at Olivet Nazarene University. His teaching responsibilities include teaching organ, piano, music theory, and music history. He is also the organist for campus convocations. Dr. Nelson is well-known in the Chicagoland area as a recitalist, workshop clinician and church musician. He has served as church organist and choir director in several Kankakee area churches and has served as Dean of the Kankakee Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. In 1993, he traveled to Nizhyn, Ukraine on a mission trip where taught music and English to Ukranian teachers, and presented a concert.
Dr. Nelson earned his Doctor of Music degree from Northwestern University in
Evanston, IL. His Master’s degree is from the University of Illinois, his
Bachelor’s degree is from Taylor University and he is a member of the Alpha
Chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda. He also holds the Associate Certificate from the
American Guild of Organists (AAGO). He has studied with Philip Kroeker, Jerald
Hamilton, George Hunter, Herbert Gotsch, Richard Enright and Wolfgang Rubsam.
