Dr. H. Gerald Anderson, D.M.A.

Dr. Gerald Anderson is a full-time member of the music faculty at Olivet Nazarene University, in Bourbonnais, Illinois. He has held this position since 1978. At ONU, he teaches private and class piano, as well as courses in music theory, music literature, and music history. In 1989, Dr. Anderson was recognized as the Faculty Member of the Year at Olivet.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Anderson performs extensively as a soloist, chamber musician, church musician, adjudicator, and clinician.  Dr. Anderson has collaborated with musicians such as Robert Hale, Dean Wilder, and Shirley Close. Dr. Anderson has served as judge for the finals of the Kankakee Symphony Orchestra Piano Competition, the Mendelssohn Music Club of Rockford, Illinois, and the Roberta Savler Piano Competition, in Chicago. Dr. Anderson has served for two years on the faculty of the Kankakee Valley Summer Music Camp.

Gerald Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Nazarene University, Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in piano pedagogy from Texas Tech University, and the Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance from the American Conservatory of Music, in Chicago. Dr. Anderson is a member of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia national music fraternity, and is a certified teacher through the Music Teachers National Association. His former teachers include Thomas Redcay, Judith Burganger, Fernando Valenti, Wanda Paul, Ian Hobson, and Katherine Glaser.
